NICHOLAS
P. RAY
Nick Ray joined the staff
of 1n10 on October 26t, 2009 and brings with him more than
a decade of management, advocacy, fundraising and public policy
research experience. He has worked in a variety of roles in
the higher education and nonprofit sectors for much of the
past 10 years, most recently serving as Director of Development
for Wingspan, Southern Arizona’s LGBT Community Center.
Prior to relocating to Arizona
he was a Senior Policy Analyst with the National Gay and Lesbian
Task Force’s Policy Institute in New York City where he served
as lead author and editor of a comprehensive analysis of the
epidemic of homelessness among LGBT youth. His work has been
utilized extensively by activists and social service providers
nationwide as well as being cited by media organizations across
North America and Western Europe.
Nick is confident that this
is the right opportunity for him at the right organization
at the right time.

history of volunteer-led advocacy for and support of LGBTQ
youth and I look forward to spreading the message about our
remarkable life-saving work across the entire valley.”
Nick received a Diploma in
Accountancy and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and History
from Oxford Brookes University in England, a Master of Arts
in Political Science from the University of Rhode Island and
a Master of Arts in Higher Education from the University of
Arizona. |

| MICHEAL
WEAKLEY
Micheal Weakley is a graduate
of Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and Mid-Sweden
University in Sundsvall, Sweden (B.S. Communication: Public
Relations, President of PRSSA, IABC). Prior to joining 1n10,
Micheal worked as an Mpowerment Coordinator at the Alternative,
an AIDS Project Arizona program, which offered HIV prevention
for gay men 18-29. Micheal has been active in the non-profit
field and gay community for over ten years and has worked
on various projects. Some of these projects include AIDS Walk
Arizona, Common Ground: New Orleans Relief Project World AIDS
Day, and the Campaign for International Equality. Micheal
has been featured on the cover of both Echo and IONAZ magazine
for his commitment to empowering LGBTQ youth in Arizona.
Micheal's responsibilities
as Director of Programs at 1n10 include the development and
management of daily programs, the LGBTQ Youth Conference,
and Rebel YELL: Arts Music and Activism, along with many other
special events monthly. Micheal is one of three managers of
our CDC funded collaboration among Southwest Center for HIV
and AIDS, Native Health and Pima Prevention called the Youth
Empowerment Program, which is an HIV prevention program designed
for young gay and transgender youth. |

JEN
WORKMAN
Jen Workman’s main career
goals are to empower youth, build community and be active
in positive social change. “I feel extremely fortunate to
work with our amazing LGBTQ Youth at 1n10 and the Youth Empowerment
Project…” Jen came to 1n10 as an intern in August 2007, and
stayed on as a 1n10 volunteer after graduating from Arizona
State University with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies
in Sociology and Women & Gender Studies in December 2007.
In September 2008, she was hired as the 1n10 Outreach/Program
Coordinator. Jen also works as a coordinator with the Youth
Empowerment Project, which has a mission of “providing a safe
place for LGBTQ youth, working hard to build community and
encourage healthy life choices.”

has been and continues to be one of the most incredible experiences
of my life, providing me the opportunity to learn, grow and
create change with our youth, volunteers, staff and community…”
Jen has over 6 years experience working with youth in crisis
shelters, street outreach, recreation and support programs.
Jen’s background and passion is in youth development and community
outreach. “My dream is for our local LGBTQ family to continue
uniting to support our youth and community through expanding
services, providing safe spaces and housing, mentorship, education
and other much-needed support.” She dreams of more and more
positive change within and for our LGBTQ community “…starting
with our youth and our community, and followed by generations
to come.” |

MILO
NEILD
Milo Neild is a Public Allies
and Americorps member currently serving his second year out
of the Arizona State University Lodestar Center. While pursuing
his BA in Media Arts and Illustration he chose to take time
away from school in order to better understand and serve his
community and the nonprofit sector.
Milo served his first year
as a Public Ally with Equality Arizona as a communications
assistant, helping to raise awareness of the mission and programs
provided by the organization through the utilization of online
social media such as podcasting and blogging. Now with 1n10
he is looking to do the same thing and more with an organization
that must communicate effectively with both donors and youth
participants. |
