COORDINATOR: MICHEAL WEAKLEY
Micheal is a graduate of Austin
Peay State
University in Clarksville, TN and Mid-Sweden
University in Sundsvall, Sweden (B.S.
Communication: Public Relations, President of
PRSSA, IABC). Prior to joining 1n10, Micheal
worked as an Mpowerment Coordinator at the
Alternative, an AIDS Project Arizona program,
which offered HIV prevention for gay, bi-sexual and
questioning men from ages 18-29. Micheal has
been active in the non-profit field and gay
community for over ten years and has worked on
various projects. Some of these projects include
AIDS Walk Arizona, Common Ground: New
Orleans Relief Project and the Campaign for
International Equality. Micheal's
responsibilities at 1n10 include the
development and daily management of an HIV
outreach program specifically targeting young men
of color and transgender youth. This program is a
collaborative effort between 1n10, Body Positive
and the Native American Community Health
Center. The program is designed to educate,
inform and offer programming that fits the particular
needs of each target population and relies on
youth design and developmental participation. As a
part of the outreach program, Micheal will be
responsible for creating a youth advisory board to
facilitate the programs. Additionally he will assist
the 1n10 coordinator by working with volunteer
mentors at all 1n10 programs, aid and strengthen
HIV prevention knowledge for 1n10, and attend
community events as a 1n10 representative.
